Once upon a time, I found myself in the chilly embrace of the Arctic, working as an educator. Let’s call it my frosty adventure! While there, I realized the immense potential to bring the Arctic’s wonders into the classrooms of my students, and that’s where my journey truly began.
Picture this: It’s 2016, and I’m dialing up Arctic scientists like they’re old pals, practically begging them to share their world with me. Some calls ended with polite refusals, but others opened doors to incredible adventures across the frozen tundra. I was like a kid in a candy store, soaking up knowledge about polar bears, permafrost, and everything in between.
As my love for the Arctic grew, so did my desire to share its magic with others. Armed with nothing but my trusty camera, I began snapping away, capturing the beauty of daily life in the Arctic. Each photo was a story waiting to be told, and I made sure to share them online for all to see.
Before I knew it, my Arctic escapades had caught the attention of major news channels like Fox, CNN, and even the Discovery Channel! They wanted to hear all about my life in the Arctic – the highs, the lows, and everything in between. It was like something out of a movie!
But then, the pandemic hit, and it was time to bid farewell to my icy home and head back to the Great Lakes, where my family awaited. Yet, my passion for education and adventure burned brighter than ever.
Armed with a master’s degree in online learning and a heart full of ambition, I set out to create something truly special – a business and a course that would help educators from all walks of life connect with the wild places I held dear. From the Arctic to the Great Lakes, I wanted to be their guide, showing them the beauty and wonder of the natural world.
But my mission didn’t stop there. I was determined to help my fellow educators achieve their personal goals, prioritize their health and wellness, and truly connect with themselves.
And so, dear friend, that’s the story of how I went from an educator in the Arctic to a connector for educators everywhere. Though my Arctic adventures are largely behind me, my passion for teaching and connecting with the world around me will continue to shine bright, like the Northern Lights on a crisp winter night.
Thank you for being a wonderful part of my story!
Best Wishes, Kirsten
